The Magical Mel Schmitz & Imperfect Parenting!
SHOW NOTE: Our gratitude for Mel Schmitz is overflowing! Mel was so accommodating by recording with us while on holiday in Malaysia. We are so pleased to share our interview with the incomparable Mel Schmitz on this episode of The Stop Parenting & Start Coaching Podcast. Mel is an Educational Psychologist at the International School of Stuttgart in Germany. She has served there for over 15 years and is also known as the "Teacher of Happiness!" Among her many talents (she's a mother of two wonderful kids, enough said!), Mel is a immensely talented author who creates unique nonsensical rhymes about her parenting adventures! She will make you giggle while she makes you think. Pure brilliance! Here's a sneak peak of the wisdom Mel drops in this episode:The best answer is a useful question! Even better if it is a sticky one! Get curious with your kids and ask them great questions. We are not defined by our past parenting mistakes!Make yourself a student and enter your teen's world to create connection and mutual respect. Respect is a great anger!Lessons learned from my wise mother during "the talk" at age 13.Parenting is about deep self work not some hack or tip. And, it's not about you (parents), it's about your kid!Contentment and self-regulation is needed within ourselves as parents before we model it to our kids.If you want more of Mel and we know you will, please connect with her on LinkedIn and visit her website where you can get a full dose of her amazing nonsensical parenting rhymes!Thank you for listening and if you love this episode of The Stop Parenting & Stop Coaching Podcast as much as we do, please share it with your parenting friends! And as Mel says "You've got this, you're not a screwup, build that connection with your kid, start small, but start!" -Nate & Stevehttps://www.linkedin.com/in/me....lschmitz/https://www out the free Oreka app (look for the unicycle logo) on the App store
