On this episode Ariel talks about how exercise can help with mental, emotional, and physical issues as well as improve our mood KEY TAKEAWAYS Have you ever felt down, out of sorts, or in a negative space? Do you have a love partner with erectile dysfunction? Are your kids driving you crazy? Are you having trouble sorting out your thoughts or creating something? Do you experience depression or anxiety? All of these issues can be addressed with one simple activity: Regular exercise. You’re not a larger person because there’s something wrong with you or you have character defects, that’s a stereotype. A lot of people don’t necessarily want to do exercise because they want to relax after a tiring day at work, they might be busy, it’s hard to fit exercise into your life, but exercise can make a difference in your life though not always to make you look better. I find that people who do exercise do look better, but they aren’t necessarily thinner; they have a glow about them, they’ve got more self-confidence, their posture is better. And there are so many health benefits that I can’t even name all of them. I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking meds to lose weight if that’s going to work for you to get the weight off so you can do more with your life. For some people who want to make changes in their lives, they look at weight loss as one of those solutions. Some people feel overwhelmed by weight loss (dieting, exercise, everything). For some people, when they take the med, they start a cycle: After losing the initial weight it becomes easier for them to move and exercise more frequently to lose more weight. A lot of times you have to take it ongoing for the rest of your life though, especially if you’re dealing with diabetes, in which case that’s fine. The current CDC guidelines recommend that each week adults in America need 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity and two days of muscle strengthening activity. Most of us, if we get three workout sessions in a week, would consider ourselves lucky, I’d say. Moderate intensity depends on you. For some people, walking s moderate intensity, for others it’s hiking, for others it could even be running. If you’re going to set yourself exercising goals, start with “do what you can do”.   BEST MOMENTS “The most available, cheapest, and easiest method to begin to address depression or negativity was something that people use the least: Exercise. You can shift your biochemistry by exercising.”
“If you’re doing exercise just to look good – which a lot of people do – and not for how it makes you feel, you’re missing out.”
“When you see anything about weight loss on social media, those people are always trying to sell you a program or a supplement.”
“4,000 steps a day is actually enough, someone made up that 10,000 steps a day number.” ABOUT THE HOST Ariel is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master, Empath and Psychic who has been involved in holistic healing since 1988.
