Why Wellness Matters to Good Leadership Just Like Making Your Bed Does
Admiral Mc Raven, says make your bed. If you can't do the little things right you'll never be able to do the big things right. So strong leaders always start their day by making their bed. He went on to say at this commencement speech that even if you had a miserable day you would at least come home to a nice neat made bed. Are there other things that fall into that same category, yes, and taking care of your physical and emotional wellness is similar to making your bed. It establishes a discipline. The best leaders understand the critical importance of fitness and this podcast expands on that.
Admiral Mc Raven doesn’t talk about thisbecause he’s talking to young people, in the military whose life consists ofphysical fitness. But emotional wellness, that seems to be a focus consistentlymissed by everyone.
Have you ever been tired, or sick, but youstill had to go to work and you can’t stop being a parent just because yoursick, and you lost your temper, or made a decision you later regretted. You endup living that reaction or decision multiple times in your life.
