26: meeting your soul chakra meditations
The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC, first recorded in one of the most ancient spiritual texts in human history: the Vedas. The concept of chakras ties into the early Hindu concepts of a physical body and a subtle body. While the physical body is visible, the subtle body — which includes the mind and emotions — consists of energy. Chakra translates to "wheel" in Sanskrit, and you can imagine them like wheels of free-flowing positive energy or a beautiful, flowing stream in a mountainous forest of your body's form. Undisturbed, the water will flow from the very top of the mountain to the very bottom smoothly, eventually making it’s way to the sea and earth. Although there are more than 100 chakras in the body, seven main chakras align on the axis from the base of the spine to the top, or crown, of the head. Awareness and understanding of the chakras can lead to a more holistic understanding of the connection between the physical, emotional and energetic body. What blocks your chakras? Suppressed anger Illness Grief Heartbreak Rejection Resentment Fear So, yea pretty much life! Today’s meditation is all about the Anja, or third-eye chakra, which controls our ability to see the big picture and encourages a strong connect to our intuition. Think of it as the eye of the soul: It registers information beyond the surface level. Visions, intuitive hits, and psychic abilities are all born within the third eye. This is because of the brain’s small yet extremely powerful "pineal gland” sits just behind Ajna, the space between your eye brows. Long before brain imaging, many ancient cultures honored the third eye as the human connection to the divine. Healing Affirmation: “I know who I am and trust my intuition.”Stones: Amethyst Essential Oils: Lemon + sandalwoodYoga Posture: Child’s Pose + Upavistha Konasana (wide forward fold) Want to learn more about the chakra system as a whole?
