43. Jason Cartwright: Being Present, Confidence of Path, & Being Excited About Today
Jason Cartwright (he/him) is a dad, husband, runner, skier, mountain biker, paddleboarder, camper, and an entrepreneur. He gets his love of fitness and the outdoors from his dad who is still rippin' the slopes of Wolf Creek at 79 years old. Jason escaped Maryland in 1999 and moved to Durango to go to Fort Lewis College with the idea to find a way to make a living in the outdoor industry. There he met and fell in love with his wife, Jessie, and after graduating they moved to her hometown, Denver. She began her teaching career and he started working at the REI Flagship store downtown, along with a few other jobs. He was offered a gig for the holidays at the neighborhood wine shop and has been in the wine business for nearly 20 years. Jason is the creator of Phun Bar: handmade, small batch, great tasting and easy to chew and swallow bars made with real ingredients. He is working to make Phun Bar a reality and leave the wine industry for good.

We talk about how Jason wanted something different from his job in the wine industry and took a risk jumping out on his own. He speaks about the importance to him of creating a product, Phun Bar, that he wanted to eat while training and then expanded to sharing his creation with friends. Jason hustles and enjoys the hustle as he works to get his product into the hands of as many people as he can. His intention, though, is to be present and to enjoy life as it is. His daughter, Harper, came up with the clever name and Phun Bar continues to expand. Jason shares how he enjoys connecting with people and how confident that he is on the right path for himself. He talks about the greatness and hardness of parenting and how amazing it is to watch his kids grow.

Jason lives on Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱, Tséstho’e, and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ land.

Book Recommendation:
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Check out Jason on IG @phunbar and www.phunbar.com
Join him for Weekly Phun Runs on Wednesdays at 8am at
Panorama Park 34th Ave & Fenton in Wheat Ridge, CO!

Support the showYou are a big deal.
Your story matters.
Keep showing up.

Subscribe: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2051242/support
Follow Becca Jay on IG @beccajay.getuptraining
