Ep 22:What Trauma Does To The Brain
Welcome to Stop, SIS - a nonprofit dedicated to educating on trauma and trafficking as well as empowering those on the healing journey.

Our Stop SIS GIVEAWAY is happening on Episode 25! This giveaway is for YOU as a thank you for tuning in, sharing episodes with your friends, leaving comments and reviews, providing feedback and being a part of this community.

In this episode, we talk about how to support survivors, and a few topics from the book "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel van der Kolk, MD, which looks at many aspects of what is going on in our brain, mind, and body in the healing of trauma.

Be sure to tune in to hear some of Rachel's thoughts, feelings and coping mechanisms/skills, as a survivor, from several of her experiences for both traumatic events and everyday tasks; and how to be a support person that is helpful for the survivor.

Rachel shares about one of the experiences she had when talking to the FBI, and her inability to verbally articulate the situation in that moment, despite her desire to open up. Rachel shared that words don't always come in verbal form, however, writing them down or drawing a picture can be an alternate option in some instances.

Trauma isn't meant to be suffered alone. Thank YOU for being here!

Thank YOU to our incredible donors! Because of your generous donations, lives are being changed and positively impacted in ways you may not even realize. Thank YOU!

Your support of Stop SIS makes life changing breakthroughs like this possible.

Text STOPSIS to 616 236-4366 to be added to our communication list so that we can keep you up to date on exciting updates and also let you know when new episodes are released.

Book Rachel to speak - OpenBlindEyes@Protonmail.com

Email to request info about the Granny Program - OpenBlindEyes@Protonmail.com

Be sure to check out our new website: https://stopsuffering.org/

Join the waiting list for 90 Day U Turn - https://dreaming.clickfunnels.com/turn-around-your-life-in-just-90-short-days1647884739644

Open Blind Eyes Book - https://amzn.to/3RebsGh

Dream Cast Podcast - Rachel's Story - https://www.buzzsprout.com/142177/9981057
