EP 41 - SHAZAM!: FURY OF THE GODS (2023)

THERE IS ONLY A SHAZ'M.After thirteen weeks of too few highs and too many lows, we have finally made it to the ending of Boulder Punch's DCEUneral Screenings. And what better way to end it than a movie that just might sum up all of the franchise's problems? Making a sequel to Shazam!, one of the DCEU's only widely-acclaimed bright spots, seems like it should be a slam dunk, between setting up Mr. Mind in the credits and Black Adam in his own movie. However, with backstage drama and the Dwayne Dynasty falling, this sequel takes some insanely weird, bizarre, and downright boring directions to get around not using either villain. Coupled with a waning interest in Zachary Levi's childish performance, how bad could it possibly get with this movie? Come watch with Alec and Brian to find out how this franchise ended up here!
