Episode Summary:God's Word is like a seed that is to be planted in our hearts and produce faith to take hold of God's promises and will for our lives. He Bore Our Sickness and By His Wounds We Are Healed
Isaiah 53 English Standard Version4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
Young’s Literal Translation4 Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains -- he hath carried them, And we -- we have esteemed him plagued, Smitten of God, and afflicted.5 And he is pierced for our transgressions, Bruised for our iniquities, The chastisement of our peace [is] on him, And by his bruise there is healing to us.
Was this only healing spiritual as some say or physical too? Matthew interprets it as physical.
Matthew 8 14-17 English Standard Version14 And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. 15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. 16 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”
Matthew tells exactly what Isaiah 53:4 was saying, “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”  Some will say the healing Jesus provided for us is spiritual. That’s true but it’s clear here that physical healing is also included. Isaiah is talking about physical healing.
1 Peter 2:24
Let’s start with verse 21. Here Peter is telling other believers we are to follow the example Jesus lived out for us.
21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Here Peter talks about what Jesus went through for us and then he make it clear what he did for us. He bore our sins so that we are set free from sin to live to righteousness and he also includes Jesus providing bodily healing.
Healing Is Benefit of Knowing God
Let’s look at a passage found in Psalm 103
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,    and all that is within me,    bless his holy name!2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,    and forget not all his benefits,3 who forgives all your iniquity,    who heals all your diseases,4 who redeems your life from the pit,    who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.Continue to plant seed in your heart.Blessings in Christ
