Veterans In Politics- Season 6, Episode 4- Heston Russell- Australian Special Forces veteran on purpose, his sexuality and righting wrongs.

In our second episode with an Australian veteran (Heston makes a dig about this fact!) we sit down with one of our most fascinating guests yet! We talk veterans, purpose, sexuality and masculinity and much, much more in this must listen!

And here's a little about Heston:
Following his graduation from the Royal Military College of Duntroon, Heston was posted as a platoon leader with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (2 RAR), where he deployed to East Timor to carry out peacekeeping operations. He went on to serve with the Special Forces, serving within 2 Commando Regiment which included four operational deployments to Afghanistan and the Middle East and saw Operational Service in support of several Counterterrorism operations. In 2016, Russell completed his final operational deployment to Iraq as the Special Operations joint lead planner within the Special Operations Joint Task Force combating ISIS.

In 2017, following his return from his deployment, Russell worked to expand Barry's Bootcamp, the US-originated boutique fitness brand to Australia and Singapore. In January 2019 Russell was officially discharged from the Australian Defence Force.

In September 2021, Russell founded the Australian Values Party, an Australian Electoral Commission as a political party that focuses on veterans' rights. He describes himself as a person, who simply thrives on bringing People, Partnerships & Projects together, with a genuine sense of Purpose to achieve their greatest Potential.

For more information on our epic sponsors Salesforce, see here: https://www.salesforce.com/uk/
and Vetforce, here: https://veterans.force.com/s/

And Heston's website is here: Make Cultural Change | Keynote Speaking & Workshops | Heston Russell

NOTE- this was recorded a short time before Her Majesty The Queen passed away
