Or maybe you have someone you admire and have always wanted to know how they achieved success in their field.  When I was younger, I was always in awe of U.S. Marines and business professionals.  I vividly remember being in the car's back seat with my parents and driving by a billboard with a poster of what looked like a night in shining armor.  I asked my parents what that was on the billboard.  They told me it was a U.S. Marine.  They explained to me how to become a Marine.  I immediately became obsessed. I read books and watched movies that had Marines in them.  And the more research I did, the more I wanted to be one.  But to me, being a U.S. Marine looked so hard.  I would first have to get good grades so that I could be prepared for my ASVAB test ( ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery), then graduate from high school, which no one in my family had done, and finally make sure I stayed in shape so that I could pass the introductory PFT (Personal Fitness Test).  That was to get me in the door of Bootcamp.  The things I would have to do to graduate from boot camp took a whole other set of physical and mental skills.  I had doubts if I could do it, but I kept remembering how that 12-year-old boy felt in the back of the car when he first saw that post of a U.S. Marine in his Dress Blues with a sword in his hand.  At the time, I did not realize the magnitude of the impact becoming a U.S. Marine would play on my life; all I knew was that I had to become one.  The lessons learned and discipline developed was priceless, and I still apply the mental practices and strengths I learned while in Bootcamp and serving in the Fleet Marine Force.  So what does my experience have to do with you overcoming the odds? Here is an example of what it looks like to overcome the odds when life looks like it is trying to hold you back from becoming what you want.  I want to let you know that you are not alone if you feel like the deck is stacked against you and you can’t see a way out, but somewhere inside you, you see something more significant than what you are right now.  I want you to know that you can accomplish what is in your heart, no matter your age, stage in life, or challenges that come your way.  As much as your struggles may seem unique, I need you to know that your situation is not unusual, some people came before you who had more immense struggles, and those same people accomplished great things. Now that I have told you how I feel, based on my own experiences, I would like to give you some tools to overcome the odds and be better than average or better than you think you can be.  I never want to motivate you and make you feel suitable for a minute without practical lessons to apply in your life to get the results you need.  People Don’t CareFirst, I want you to know that people don’t care if you accomplish what you want.  This isn’t preschool where you ask for something you enjoy, like candy or get a reward for existing, and the te
