November 6th - All Dressed Up With Everywhere To Go

"We're created to do good work. Even predestined, according to the Bible. That said, what's the difference between "serving" as God defines it, and "community service?" Are "good works" just a churchy way of saying "volunteerism?" Not so fast. In this passage, Jesus tells the church in Sardis that good works are how they work out what God has worked in. They are how we wear outwardly what Jesus has given us inwardly. The difference is that when we do these things, we do so with the name of Jesus in our hearts and on our lips. As we serve God in good works, with Jesus as the source and object of our labor, God does something incredible: He illustrates and communicates His grace to the world around us. In this week's message we'll learn more about how to "put on" the outfit Jesus gave us."
