Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the weekly newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra. Let’s get into it, shall we?Last WeekThe most recent issue of The End—the 47th—highlighted 7 shows in the Season Finales & Finished Series section, and 3 of them wrapped in the last few days.👿🌲🌑 • The Road of Shadows, a dramatized scifi series from Mark R. Healy, reached the end of the 1st season on July 25th. There are 10 episodes, giving you about five hours of entertainment. Season 2 is slated for October.
💾 📻🏕️ • Samite, a narrated horror series from J.W.G. Wise, posted the season 2 finale on July 24. Give yourself about 3 hours to listen to the 8 episodes. Season 3—the series conclusion—is slated for March of 2024.
🔎 🐶 💊 • Zoinks!, a dramatized comedy mystery tale from Queen City Flash, completed its first season on July 21. You only need about 2 and a half hours to listen to the 8 episodes, with season 2 slated for early next year.
Listen to the end of this audio file to hear the trailers for these three shows.
This WeekWith every issue, I made two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV. Both of these will be familiar to you if you’ve been a reader of the newsletter for a few weeks.🔎💀👧 • The first is Two Dead Girls in Jubeliene, a dramatized mystery thriller from Ethan Wellin. I found this to be a gripping, well-conceived mystery that gives an exciting ride. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] Two Dead Girls in Jubeliene is fully complete. Enjoy the six and half hour experience of listening to all 12 episodes.
💧🩸🫥 • My next recommendation is Pearl River Remains, a narrated southern gothic ghost story from Daryl Lisa Fazio. This is a very subtle "ghost story" (I'd say urban fantasy or weird brain powers) with a compelling narrator who puts you right in the scene. I quickly ignored the small production imperfections, most of which you probably won’t notice at all. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] Pearl River Remains is also fully complete. The 22 episodes will take you about nine hours to listen.
Next WeekThe latest issue of The End has 2 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, and one of them starts up again in just a few days:Small Victories,
