Show me someone who doesn’t have money shit, and I’ll… well, I’ll tell you you’re probably wrong, because they don’t exist. 😜Or— at least they only exist if they’ve seriously done their WORK around money. And sure— systemic and economic issues like privilege, intergenerational poverty, inflation, lack of affordable housing, recessions— of course these variables play a BIG role in our lives with money. (Serotonin? In this economy? 😡‍πŸ’«) But you’ve either experienced yourself heard or stories about how, even when we DO get to a place where our needs are met and we have “enough,” those internalized beliefs and fears around money often won’t shift AT ALL to match our actual financial circumstances, because we carry these fears deep in our body and subconscious mind. In Dana’s case, that looked like being unable to buy the $6 cherries she wanted, even though she was making 6 figures at that point— because she had yet to untangle and rewire alllll the generational money shit she carried, AND for her body to catch up with the present reality that she was no just longer scraping by on $7.25 an hour. How many times have you heard or even said to yourself the phrase,  “I’m bad with money”? πŸ™‹‍♀️ Unfortunately I have said this more times than I can count— but thankfully not in years, because I now understand just how disempowering it is. (You’ll hear us riff on this in the interview!) I’ve worked on my money mindset over the past handful of years, and recently I decided to get serious about it and hired money mindset coach, Dana Yao. After seeing how powerful our first few sessions were, I said to Dana, “Pleeaase come on on the podcast!” She was delighted to, so now you get to listen to this valuable conversation where I’m letting you peek behind the curtain of my own relationship with money! In this episode, Dana and I are talking all about money mindset— where it comes from, how we can start to shift and heal it, and common pitfalls to watch out for in your relationship with money. About Dana YaoDana Yao is a moneyset coach who helps spiritual female entrepreneurs melt away money blocks, reprogram their subconscious mind for abundance, and reach their next-level income. After immigrating from China to the U.S., Dana realized how deep her own intergenerational money wounds were, and had to navigate living on $7.25 an hour before advancing in her current career in the financial industry. Once she experienced how powerful her own money mindset work was, Dana received world-class coach training with the Quantum Coach Academy, and now coaches other women on how to heal their relationship with money. This episode covers:[0:45] Reading, watching, loving[6:00] Dana's vision of a ‘rich life’[7:25] Doing something meaningful vs. maximizing your income[9:00] Keeping a steady job while working on your passion projects[11:30] Dana’s path to chasing her dreams and her previous relationship to money[16:20] The socioeconomic factors that impact our view of money[18:25] Getting  ourselves into a better money position instead of being ruled  by what  we can't control[25:00] Our differing relationships to money and money issues[26:25] Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as it relates to money mindset[35:10] What you can start doing today to reshape your money mindset[37:55] Reframing “I’m bad with money”[40:40] ‘Go Off’ segment[45:00] Dana’s Money Mindset Elevation program Resources mentioned in this episode:Watching: The Last of UsReading: Mother of the Company  by P
