The book of Esther is a historical and literary gem. Some experts suggest that the literary pivot in the book occurs here, early in chapter 6. The pivot does not emerge from a dramatic word or deed by Haman or Esther, rather from a quiet, subtle non-event. The king has insomnia. What a coincidence!
