Hypnotic Mind Reads That Make You Go Hmmm
When you think of tarot cards, psychics and dating, the term ‘Mind-read’ might spring to mind. The idea of knowing what another person is thinking can be tempting, leading us to checking our star signs, social media and lottery tickets. Can we really know? The truth is, no we cant, unfortunately technology isn't that great, even DARPA's mind-controlled prosthetic arm can't read a human's mind, just ask someone with a prosthetic arm. Skeptical? you are allowed to be.While you're reading this, I want you to know, the hypnotist-mind-read is a technique (thingy) that can be used in two different ways.
Firstly, I need to get all technical, linguistically a mind read is an ill-formed surface structure of communication. Now for the easy bit - Imagine a debating team stuffed with well-spoken academics, you say ‘I know you're not telling the truth’ - they scream back ‘facts! where’s the evidence?’- The debating team tears shreds off you- ‘remember to use facts’. So, that's why in a fancy world a ‘mind read’ is a poorly formed conclusion. Secondly the mind read (hypnosis) ‘relax & unwind, you know what I mean’ - In fact I know you just got that one.Mind read examples: Everybody in the group thinks that I'm taking up too much time, I'm sure she liked your present, I know what makes him happy, you know what I'm trying to say, you know how I feel. Here are some less obvious examples: If she loved me she would always do what I like. I'm disappointed that you didn't take my feelings into account.
